Kim’s childhood was marked by hardship and pain. Growing up in extreme poverty in Durban, South Africa, she experienced emotional abuse by her mother, who openly rejected faith and abused herself through a dangerous lifestyle. She often felt unloved and unwanted. By the time she was 14, she had lost hope for her future. She felt invisible, purposeless, and even considered ending her life.

But God had a different plan. In the darkest moment of her life, Kim heard an unmistakable voice calling her. Though she didn’t fully understand who God was, she was desperate to know him. She began attending church on her own, facing ridicule and even physical abuse from her mother, yet her pursuit of God never wavered.

Kim’s journey led her to Focus on Christ Ministries, one of Feed the Hunger’s partners that uses Packathon meals to provide critical nutrition for hungry children and youth. There she found a community that nurtured her faith and supported her desire to be used by God. Through the church, she met a joy-filled young man who shared her desire to honor God in their relationship. Despite her mother’s opposition, the church stepped in to guide and support them. With their help, Kim and her now-husband were married and began building a life rooted in faith and integrity.

Today, Kim has answered God’s call to transform the lives of children in her community. At just 20 years old, she leads a special program that helps children from impoverished settlement areas excel in their studies while learning about God’s love and the power of prayer. What began as a story of despair has become a story of hope, purpose, and impact. Kim is a testimony to what is possible when God’s love meets the hearts of those who care.

Your support and prayers make stories like Kim’s possible. Together, we can bring hope, protection, and faith-filled opportunities to children and youth who need it most.
