Feed the Hunger is a Christian ministry delivering hope and a future to malnourished children around the world who are vulnerable to starvation by utilizing volunteers to pack life-saving meals, which we distribute along with culturally appropriate Bibles. About us.
“A great door for effective work” has opened for us during this coronavirus pandemic (1 Corinthians 16:9). Never has the need been greater, and our ministry partners are poised to meet the crisis head-on. And perhaps never has there been a time when fellowship and service are so needed for your congregation.
Because of the pandemic disrupting our Packathons, we produced 18% less food in 2020 than we did in 2019. The result is that we are giving out food faster than we can produce it. However, we are compelled to do so because people are increasingly desperate—and pleading with our ministry partners for food.
Feed the Hunger is registered with the FDA and has continued to package and distribute food utilizing our social distance packing model that limits close contact. Instead of the normal 20 people packing at a 300 square-foot station, 8–12 are packing at a half station occupying 400 square feet.
- We require each participant to sign a Waiver of Liability form stating that the volunteer DOES NOT hold Feed the Hunger or the host location liable should they contract the virus.
- Each person’s temperature is checked using an infrared thermometer prior to entering the packing space.
- Hand wipes, gloves, masks, and hairnets are required for every volunteer.
In 2020, after the pandemic changed our world, over 10,000 volunteers packed 2 million meals using the social distance format, with no reports of staff members or volunteers contracting the virus. However, we continue to take every precaution possible to ensure a safe food packing event.
We encourage you to hold an event this year with us. Our calling as believers to help the needy only increases during times like these, and your people will enjoy safely fellowshipping and serving together again. A child needs you. Be the difference.
