Weekly Prayer and Praise

October 11 – October 17

God chose to work through Israel to bring about blessing and salvation for the entire world. Yet the story of Israel is one filled with pride and rebellion against the God who made them. The prophet Malachi gave a blunt, point-by-point assessment of all the ways the people of Israel were breaking their covenant with the Lord. Whether it was blemished sacrifices, false teaching, infidelity, injustice, or arrogance, it seemed as if God had no choice but to abandon his people. However, in the midst of all this bad news, he reminded Israel that he would not forsake the covenant: “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed” (Malachi 3:6).

It is the unchanging goodness of God that sustained his people through centuries of oppression and ultimately led to the sacrifice of his Son to redeem the world. Instead of the sin that only brings death and separation from God, the love he showed through Jesus Christ brings eternal, abundant life to his children. Malachi closes his prophecy with a promise from the Lord that for those who trust him, “the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays” (4:2). As we continue to live in the righteous light of Christ, may we seek out those in dark places who desperately need the changeless grace and love of the Savior.

Physical Needs

  • Last week was a busy one for Packathons! We greatly appreciate the groups who packed meals with us to feed children like this young girl in Ghana. Thanks to the Council on International Educational Exchange (Washington, DC), Southeastern Freight (Greensboro, NC), Katy Community (Katy, TX), Concordia Lutheran (China Grove, NC), Liberty Church (Spring Lake, NC), Pleasant Grove Baptist (Fuquay Varina, NC), Mt. Harmony Baptist (Rougemont, NC), and Mt. Zion Wesleyan (Thomasville, NC).
  • A container left our Texas warehouse and is heading to Guatemala!

Spiritual Needs

  • Thank you for helping us send Bible funds to our partners at Holy Palace in India. “We are very grateful for the opportunity to distribute Bibles and Christian literature to our local churches and communities free of charge through local church leaders. Materials were available in English, Nepali, Hindi, and Bengali, allowing us to reach people in different language communities.” —Johny, Director of Holy Palace Christian Centre
  • Charles, Director of Nairobi Language Institute in Kenya, is preparing for outreach in the slums at the beginning of next month. Pray over him as he prepares the messages he will deliver, and pray for the Bible distribution he has planned.

Other Needs

  • Please pray for the families and children being treated during our partner’s medical outreaches in Ghana. The team has met many children who need additional medical care. We are sending Aid and Relief funds to help with these needs as well.
  • As the Feed the Hunger team wraps up their time at the Global Partners Summit in Turkey, two of our staff are heading on to Pakistan to spend time with our partners on the ground to see how God is moving. Please pray for everyone traveling home and for those continuing to Pakistan.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:17

Thank you for praying that our changelessly good Father would use us to reach the vulnerable in the name of Jesus. Have a great week!
