Weekly Prayer and Praise

May 24 – May 30

Today is International Day for the Unreached, when believers around the world pause to pray for “unreached” people groups—those communities where there may be no local church, no Scripture in their language, and little to no access to the gospel.

Jesus gave the church a clear commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). The word translated “nations” points not merely to political countries, but also to ethnic groups. It is fitting that this day highlighting the unreached falls on Pentecost Sunday, when we remember the Holy Spirit empowering the church to bear witness to Christ across languages, cultures, and peoples.

At Feed the Hunger, we are burdened for places where spiritual and physical hunger overlap, especially in communities that are both vulnerable and unreached. Many of our partners are serving in or near these kinds of communities in places like Mali, Ghana, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and Cambodia.

In addition to the prayer requests below, please take a few minutes this Sunday to pray for the unreached, particularly in places where Feed the Hunger partners are serving. You can use the Joshua Project Prayer Map to choose a people group in one of these countries, learn their name, and pray specifically for them. Ask God to open doors for the gospel, strengthen local believers and ministry partners, provide Scripture in every language, and bring many to faith in Jesus Christ.

Physical Needs

  • Today we’re packing meals with Manna Church (Stafford, VA), and on Saturday we’ll be packing with Poston Baptist Church (Wallace, NC).
  • The Haiti container has arrived! Please pray with us that it will not sit in customs long.

Spiritual Needs

  • Wade, one of our US partners, will be traveling to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for ministry this week.
  • Pray over Andy in Uganda as he prepares for the upcoming Pathfinders Youth Camp at the beginning of June. “This conference seeks to ignite young people with a passion for God, empower them to live purpose-driven lives, and encourage them to become responsible citizens who positively influence their communities. Through worship, prayer, teaching, mentorship, and fellowship, we desire to raise a generation that fears God, serves faithfully, leads with integrity, and contributes meaningfully to society.”

Other Needs

  • Pray with us for the patients and healthcare workers affected by the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
  • Pray also for our partners’ safety as they work in remote and unreached areas, and for the Holy Spirit to work through them to bring more people to Christ.

For as the soil makes the sprout come up
and a garden causes seeds to grow,
so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness
and praise spring up before all nations.

Isaiah 61:11

Thank you for praying for unreached people around the world, especially those our partners serve. Have a blessed week!
